Colpitt Lake is a small but idyllic, unsettled lake in the Williams Lake Watershed of Halifax, Nova Scotia. A new and still growing subdivision lies only a few hundred meters away, but by the lake itself all sounds & scenes of our busy world are lost. In this video, a biologist paddles the shoreline and comments on what he sees. The acidic water is brown from humic acids, but otherwise clear, there are no signs of any eutrophication and the shoreline is bordered only by native vegetation. It is a rugged shoreline fringed by wetlands a few meters to 50 m or more in width. The video serves to document the pristine state of the shoreline in 2015.
