Mummy mink with her kits, Williams Lake NS
By Cathy Vaughan, July, 2024
Minks live in the Williams lake area because they can safely build their burrows in rivers, streams, and lakes as well as raise their families of young kits. There is also an abundance of their preferred menu offerings of frogs, fish, shrews, rabbits, muskrats, and mice.
Kits are born in early spring and usually have between 1 to 8 siblings. The mummy mink will keep them close until fall when their mink-training is over and they are old enough to establish their own territory and family.
