Poison Ivy at the Williams Lake Dam

By: Cathy Vaughan August, 2024

Poison ivy can cause red, swollen skin, blisters, and severe itching in a few hours of contact with the plant but will go away within 1 to 2 weeks.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Doug van Hemessen wants you to enjoy your wilderness experience in the Shaw Wilderness Park. There are now signs, posted close to the top of the dam warning you of the poison ivy covering and surrounding the dam.

Safety is as simple as ABC! Always Be Careful!
