Winter is coming to a close which means work will resume soon on replacing the Williams Lake Dam.

The first step is to do water tests and condition assessments on eight properties in the area. Dexter Construction Company Ltd. is doing the construction work on behalf of Build Nova Scotia. It will hand deliver letters to these eight properties the week of March 16 notifying them of these assessments and when they will be conducted.

Five properties will have water quality assessments only, and an additional three will also have a non-intrusive pre-construction survey of their property which will include taking photographs of the outside of the homes and their foundations. The letter will provide contact information for an Environmental Specialist for property owners who may have questions.

Dexter is expected to begin putting fencing onsite in April in preparation for replacing the dam. Build Nova Scotia will keep the community updated on what is happening, when it is happening, and what to expect.
