The Backlands Suites art exhibit is an exceptional glimpse into the many stunning and diverse natural areas tucked into the landscapes found in the Backlands in Spryfield. These natural “suites” are framed by the Purcell’s Cove Road and the Herring Cove Road from Power’s Pond to Williams Lake Road and cover 1,350 hectares of unique forests, sculpted granite barrens and rare ecosystems.

The Backlands Coalition is a grass-roots, citizen-action group of 12 local conservation groups. The troupe of dedicated naturalists, citizen-scientists, biologists, birders, conservationists, business owners, and residents fuel the volunteer Coalition. They are a cohesive voice to advocate for the protection of these rare lands, their important natural services, and access to nature for everyone, forever.

The Backlands “Suites” exhibition, in April will feature 9 notable artists, inspired by the Backlands and whose bond with and alliance to the land can be witnessed in their sensitive and novel pieces of art. This exhibition is your moment to experience the wonder of the Backlands wilderness.
