The proposal passed in three parts. Negotiations can proceed! Thank you to all those who were able to turn out this morning.
Halifax staff had presented a report to Council on Friday, with the recommendation to approve a proposal by the Nature Conservancy of Canada to acquire almost 400 acres of land in the Williams Lake Backlands and set it aside indefinitely as a wilderness preserve. Council had this item on its agenda for the September 20 sitting.
The full staff report is here, and the essential points are in the Executive Summary.
If you have not already done so, please visit the Urban Wilderness Park Website for more about the proposal.
