Swimming Advisory

Avoid Swimming in Eastern end of Williams Lake
10 August, 2026

Swim Warning

Our routine lake water testing on 5 August, 2026, at the East end of the lake indicates high E-coli count in the test area.  The count is above the acceptable healthy and safe swimming limit and therefore the Eastern end of the lake is not considered healthy for swimming.

The unusually low lake water levels is a temporary situation. When the new dam is fully operational and holding lake waters to historically healthy and environmentally safe levels, we hope e-coli will not be an issue again.

The good news is our tests show Colpitt Lake is safe! Cunard Pond is tested daily by Halifax Regional Municipality and is currently not at risk so go for a cooling dip. But continue to monitor our social media for updates.

Safety Tips:

  • Check WLCC social media for alerts and updates.
  • Do not swim in the Eastern end of the lake while there is an advisory.
  • Rinse off immediately and shower thoroughly with soap and clean water if in doubt.
