Let’s get to know a few of our plant neighbours in the Spryfield area of Halifax. Karen McKendry, of the Ecology Action Centre (EAC), will discuss and explore edible, interesting and rare plants, and their fascinating lives in the Backlands and the Williams Lake watershed.

The Backlands Suites art exhibit is an exceptional glimpse into the many stunning and diverse natural areas tucked into the landscapes found in the Backlands in Spryfield. These natural “suites” are framed by the Purcell’s Cove Road and the Herring Cove Road from Power’s Pond to Williams Lake Road and cover 1,350 hectares of unique forests, sculpted granite barrens and rare ecosystems.

Whether you’re new to fishing or just getting started, this is an opportunity to learn about sustainable fishing practices, conservation and how we can all play a part in protecting our local waters. We’ll discuss conservation efforts, local fish species, and tips for responsible fishing to ensure that Nova Scotia’s natural resources are forever preserved for future generations. Bring your family, friends and newbie fishers to connect, share experiences, and let’s talk fish!
