More hatchings of endangered snapping turtles

The WLCC is happy to report the successful hatching of 35 more baby snapping turtles last evening (Sept 21st) from a second nesting site near Williams Lake. Kudos to neighbours Tammi and Luis Hernandez who spotted the first hatchlings emerging from the nest and alerted a member of the WLCC.
Unlike last week’s hatching, most of these little ones did try to set off toward the lake rather than the road (see photo), but we helped them on their way by transporting them to the lake edge where they swam off into the water.
