In September HRM announced that the tentative agreement for the Urban Wilderness Park on the Purcell’s Cove Backlands would include a parking lot and main entrance. Since then some questions have been raised about the concept and possible scale of parking adjacent to a wilderness area. The NCC in partnership with urban parking specialists UrbanMobility has arrived at a solution that will provide for those who visit by car while meeting the concerns of conservationists.

“We are tired of hearing about this city centre thing,” Bruce Holland of the Spryfield Business Commission told about 70 people packed into the Station Six eatery on Herring Cove Road. “Let’s get on . . . with the needs of the other parts of this municipality.”

The WLCC community was very attentive to the first street and sidewalk treatments of the year, and quickly identified and reported the treatments of Wenlock, Litchfield, Wyndrock and Birchview. Sadly the greatest burden was on the sidewalks…
