Halifax staff had presented a report to Council on Friday, with the recommendation to approve a proposal by the Nature Conservancy of Canada to acquire almost 400 acres of land in the Williams Lake Backlands and set it aside indefinitely as a wilderness preserve. Council had this item on its agenda for the September 20 sitting.

Williams Lake Backlands – Support crucial before September 20
Halifax staff will be presenting a report to Council on September 16, with a recommendation on whether to approve a proposal by the Nature Conservancy of Canada to acquire almost 400 acres of land in the Williams Lake Backlands and set it aside indefinitely as a wilderness preserve. Council will likely vote on a motion on September 20 – time is of the essence!
