Happy Canada Day!

What do you get for $20 in these days of shrink-flation? The $20 yearly membership fee to the Williams Lake Conservation Company (WLCC) will net you a couple of scientists, a group of practising conservationists, several sharp researchers, a collection of computer wizards, and a squad of seasoned retirees from urban planning, education, law, and journalism. At no extra cost we’ll throw in a retired public servant who knows how to speak ‘government!’ An impressive lineup of volunteers, who continue to donate their expertise to caring for and protecting Williams Lake and its huge watershed. We all need a reminder to keep our cars safe from break-ins, whether in our own driveways or in the car park at our local parks. Recently, there has been an increase of “smash&grab” incidences in our area.

Dozens of colourful birds were sighted by enthusiastic, newbie bird watchers on our spring series of educational bird-tours. Fulton Lavender, WLCC’s bird guide, identified birds and explained what to look for when identifying birds.

Looking for a unique natural high that lowers your stress level, boosts your immune system, improves circulation, burns calories, and feels like champagne running through your veins? Try a spring plunge in the frigid, open waters of Williams Lake!
